The Yankees drew first blood in their American League Championship Series following a 5-2 win over the Guardians in Game One from the Bronx. Carlos Rodon earned the win after giving up one run on three hits while mowing down nine batters over six innings. Giancarlo Stanton slugged a solo shot and Juan Soto recorded a pair of hits including a homer. Alex Cobb got the loss after giving up three runs over two-plus innings and Joey Cantillo threw two wild pitches which scored runs in his one-out relief appearance. Cleveland hopes to even the best-of-seven series at one game apiece when Game Two takes place at Yankee Stadium on Tuesday.
