CLEVELAND, OH--- The Cavs have gotten their first win at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse of the 2023-2024 season, snapping Golden State's 5 game winning streak, winning Sunday night 115-104. It was a 3 point battle early on in a tightly contested first quarter, much to be expected when you're playing Golden State.

The Cavs shot 41% from behind the arc in the first quarter, vs Golden State's 46% in a quarter where it seemed that the 3 point shot was the only source of offense for either side. Something switched for Golden State in the 2nd quarter and beyond, as the Warriors would start the 2nd quarter 0 for 9 from the field. That 0 for 9 start would be the beginning of the end essentially for the Warriors, as the 2nd quarter ended and we came back from halftime, the Cavs were in full control from the start of the 3rd quarter on. The Cavs got out to as much as a 14 point lead, getting points in 2 big categories, points in the paint, and points off the fast break. The Cavaliers outscored the Warriors 58-24 in the paint and got 26 fast break points compared to Golden State's 10. The Cavs were lead by Donovan Mitchell with 31 points and 7 assists, another big performance for the Cavs was form Max Strus, who scored 15 points, while helping battle the "Splash Brothers" from behind the arc with 3 makes deep. Strus would also dish out 4 assists and grab 4 rebounds. Speaking of those "Splash Brothers" Steph Curry was held to 28 points and Klay Thompson to 15.

The Cavs will start a big road trip Wednesday night from Oklahoma City. Tip off is set for 8:00 and you can hear it live on your flagship for Cavaliers basketball, Newsradio WTAM 1100, serving Northeast Ohio for 100 years.
