WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Cleveland Cavaliers looked to prove the doubters wrong on Friday night, as they were once again underdogs despite their impressive play of late. Clevland's size and speed proved to be too much to handle for the Wizards, with the Cavaliers carrying a 30-point lead into the final quarter. Washington showed energy late in the game but it was too little too late and they went on to fall to the Cavaliers by the final score of 116-101.
Cleveland point guard Darius Garland set a new season high in scoring, lighting up the Wizards with 32 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. Jarrett Allen secured yet another double-double for the Cavs, scoring 28 points while pulling down 13 boards.
The Cavaliers will travel back to Cleveland to defend their home court on Sunday afternoon against the Utah Jazz. Tip-off is set for 3:30 pm ET at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio.
