WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Washington Wizards came into Friday night's game looking to clinch a spot in the play-in tournament for a chance at the NBA Playoffs. Following a back-and-forth first half, Washington tightened up their play, outscoring the Cavaliers by 13 points in the third quarter. The Wizards shut door on the Cavs down the stretch to secure a 120-105 victory over the visiting Cavaliers.
Russell Westbrook was called upon to step up in the absence of superstar winger Bradley Beal. The former league MVP went on to notch his first triple-double since passing Oscar Robertson on the all-time NBA list, posting a stat line of 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 17 assists. Robin Lopez led all Wizards in scoring off of the bench with 14 total points.
