The More Things Change the More they Stay the Same, Browns Fall 38-6

The effects of a shortened training camp and a head coaching change showed its ugly head for the Browns on Sunday as they fell to the Baltimore Ravens 38-6. The Ravens, who were super bowl contenders last season lead by the NFL MVP Lamar Jackson did not miss a beat this off season and it showed week one.

The Browns would score only once and it was a touchdown to tight end David Njoku in the first quarter. A missed extra point by kicker Austin Seibert would make the score 10 to 6 in favor of the Ravens.

Unfortunately for the Browns that would be it. The Browns struggled throughout the day. Baker Mayfield was 21 of 39 with 189 yards passing on the day with one touchdown and one interception. The Browns running backs Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb had a good game. Respectively Hunt finished with 72 yards on 13 carries for and avg of 5.5 yards and Chubb finished with 60 yards on 10 attempts for an avg of 6 yards. However the receivers struggled today. Jarvis lead the way with five catches on six targets for 61 yards. David Njoku was second on the team with three catches on three targets for 50 yards. Odell Beckham had a gave to forget, Beckham had three catches on 10 targets for 22 yards.

Defensively what can we say, Larry Ogunjobi a highlight plays but it was a rough day nonetheless.

The Browns return thursday night to take on the Bengals at home. Countdown to Kickoff starts at 3pm this Thursday, the game starts at 8:20. For the latest on the Browns go to WTAM.com or listen to WTAm on the Free iHeartRadio app.
