(Full Video at Bottom of Page) Dan Campbell at his introductory press conference: âThis team is going to take on the identity of this city. This city has been down and it found a way to get up. Itâs found a way to overcome adversity. Weâre going to kick you in the teeth. When you punch us back weâre going to smile at you, and when you knock us down weâre going to get up and on the way up weâre going to bite a kneecap off. Weâre going to stand up and then itâs going to take two more shots to knock us down. On the way up weâre going to take your other kneecap, and then itâs going to take us three shots to get us down, and when we do weâre going to take another chunk out of you. Before long, weâre going to be the last one standing.â

Dan Patrick: âDid you watch your initial press conference with the Lions??â
Campbell: âNo I didnât. I had friends that were sending me bits and pieces of it. I have not watched the entirety of it, no.â
DP: âWhat did you think of your performance?â
Campbell: âIt was fine. Look, I wear my heart on my sleeve a little bit, itâs just kind of who I am. Itâs hard for me to be something that Iâm not. I just felt like I wanted to do something for the city of Detroit, our fans, and that was my first introduction to my players. I just felt like thatâs who I needed to talk to, and then once I got going a little bit, man, it just kind of GOES from there. For everybody who thinks that I donât know that biting kneecaps is not a personal foul in the NFL, believe me, I know that⌠The people I heard from are the people who know me, so to them, it was right in line of what they knew I was. That was just kind of âmeâ, and how I talk. You canât take everything literally. I just want there to be this toughness about us. The league now has changed in such a way â for the better, but not always for the better â yet there is still this element of having to be tough. This is a tough manâs game.â (Full Segment Above)
